2010 survival kit

It's not too late to rustle up a New Year's gift for friends or family. Here's the 2010 survival kit I gave to my husband and children this year.
Here's what I put into it - this list, together with the relevant items:

Candle - to brighten up those dark days
Battery - for when your energy gets low
Tissue - to dust yourself down after those falls ready to start again
Notebook - to record all those triumphs and happy events
Magnet - to attract good luck
Mirror - to look into and remember what a good person you are
Calendar - to enjoy every day.

I put the goodies into some knitted bags I'd made before, but a paper bag or envelope would do just as well.

So see in the New Year with a thoughtful, inspirational little gift.

Llama fridge magnets

Daughter Caiti has helped me create these super fridge magnets. I got the wooden shapes and self-adhesive magnetic strip through ebay, acrylic paints from the local supermarket, put them together - and voila, lovely llamas to brighten up your locker or fridge. Fashion diva cria

I'm sure this counts as a llama craft! Here's baby llama Lulin (born 3 March 2009) modelling her cria coat. I adapted it from a dog coat pattern (www.suitability.com)and it's made the perfect cosy bodywarmer for Lulin. Early March isn't the best time to be born so it's important that Lulin keeps warm.

Fab fabric

I have just bought the most beautiful fabric off ebay (from blanmo2005 to be exact). I have a yard each of black, white and blue alpaca pattern fabric. A photo will follow very soon. What am I going to do with it? Well, I have been planning on making all the llamas a bandana each. The two alpacas already have them and they look super. But this fabric's too nice for llamas! Caiti and I will have to get busy with some nice girlie things like scrunchies and little bags. Suggestions welcome please!
